Championship rules

General

  • The Interclub Championship comprises three divisions: A, B and C

  • It takes place in 3-hour slots (one slot per encounter) on Sundays from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.

  • On 13 Sundays from January 26 to June 29, 2025, without interfering with other competitions (Badminton Quebec, Aces, Classic Lachine, etc.)

  • The dates for the Championship are: January 26 - February 2 - February 9 - March 2 - March 9 - March 30 - April 6 - May 11 - June 1 - June 8 - June 15 - June 22 - June 29

  • If your team is not available on one or more of these dates, please let us know before the end of the registration period so that we do not schedule your encounters on these dates.

  • Each team will play a total of 4 encounters among these dates

Registration

  • The registration period is over for the 2025 season

  • In the event of withdrawal before the start of the championship, the entry fee will not be refunded.

Promotion

  • Promotion : The top team in each division advances to the next division for the following season

Team composition

  • Teams must comprise between 6 and 8 players (minimum 4 men and 2 women)

  • To participate in the Championship, players must be affiliated with Badminton Québec, the minimum affiliation required is the affiliation for recreational players at $10 taxes included to be carried out following this link: AFFILIATE, all the details concerning this affiliation are available following this link: RECREATIONAL AFFILIATION

  • Players ranked provincially cannot play in a division lower than their ranking, e.g. a player ranked provincial B cannot play in a team registered in division C.

  • Teams may represent their club, organization, university or be individual

  • We strongly encourage the collective wearing of a club or team jersey during championship encounters

  • A team captain must be appointed for each team, and will be responsible for the team registration and running of the encounters

  • He/she will also be responsible for filling in the game sheet and forwarding it to the championship organizers

Number of matches

  • Each encounter consist of 8 matches

    • 2 men singles

    • 1 women singles

    • 2 men doubles

    • 1 women double

    • 2 mixed doubles

  • Each player plays a maximum of 2 matches (except for teams with 2 girls, one of the girls will play 3 matches).

  • A player may not play 2 matches in the same category, e.g. 2 men's singles.

  • The players with the highest provincial ranking in the team must play the highest matches, eg: the two men playing the two men's singles are ranked A and B, the player ranked A must play SH1 and the player ranked B must play SH2.

Encounters schedule

  • Once registration is complete, an encounter schedule will be drawn up and posted on the website.

  • For each match, a dedicated game sheet will be edited and sent to the captains of the two respective teams, who will be responsible for filling it in during the match.

  • All players must arrive at least 15 minutes before the start of the encounter, i.e. 4.45 p.m

  • For each encounter, 2 courts are allocated to the 8 matches to be played.

  • The warm-up time at the start of the encounter is 10 minutes, and the warm-up time before each match is 2 minutes.

  • Captains are free to decide on the order of matches to be played, but 2 matches must be played at the same time in order to respect the 3-hour time slot.

  • If a team member (or two) is unavoidably absent, he/she can be replaced by another player (joker) who is not part of the team. In this case, the player's name must be written (J) next to his/her name on the game sheet.

  • Each team has 2 jokers for the whole season (a man cannot replace a woman and a woman cannot replace a man).

  • If the joker player is ranked provincially, the ranking rule applies in relation to the team's division.

Match shuttlecocks

  • Each team must bring a tube of new feather shuttlecocks, i.e. 12 shuttlecocks for each encounter

  • These shuttlecocks are reserved for matches (not for warm-ups) and must be TOURNAMENT grade

  • Here is the list of shuttlecocks accepted for the championship:

    • YONEX AEROSENSA 20; 30; 40; 50

    • LI-NING G600; G700; G800

    • OLIVER APEX 100; 200

    • RSL CLASSIC TOURNEY; SUPREME; ULTIMATE

    • VICTOR MASTER N°1; 2; 3; ACE

  • Note : Teams not respecting this rule during an encounter will be given a penalty of 2 points on the encounter

Points and ranking

  • Points per match: 1 point for a match won, 0 for a match lost or forfeited.

  • Points per encounter: Victory = 5 points, Draw = 3 points, Defeat = 1 point, Forfeit = 0 points

Reward and Cash Prize

  • The top-ranked team in each division will receive the championship medal and a cash prize of 200$
